Faculty of Medicine, Kagoshima University was
started originally as Satsuma- |

Han Medical School and Hospital in 1869 in Kagoshima
where the Meiji |

|
Restoration broke out. William Willis, a British doctor was invited as the first |
|
|
president in 1869. |
|
|
In 1943 Kagoshima Prefectural Medical Vocational
School was authorized; |
|
|
this was the beginning of the resent Faculty of Medicine, Kagoshima University. |
|
|
@@In 1998 the School of Health Sciences, which
comprises three coursed, namely |
|
|
Course of Nursing, Physical Therapy and
Occupational Therapy, was established |
|
|
as a part of Faculty of Medicine. Together with Faculty of Dentistry,Kagoshima |
|
|
University located next to us, our Faculty of Medicine is now expected to be a |
|
|
Sanctuary of Medicine and Health Sciences in south Kyushu district. |
|
|
Our Faculty of Medicine, Kagoshima University has
produced more than 5,700 |
|
|
graduates over 62 years. |
|
|
Kagoshima is situated at the southern tip of Japan,
our Faculty of Medicine has |
|
|
had good opportunities of contribution to and collaboration with China,
Korea, |
|
|
and East-Asian countries in medical fields. |
|
|
Kagoshima has many islands that lie far south from
the mainland, and diseases |
|
|
peculiar to these sub-tropical islands have been studied vigorously. |
|
|
The motto of our Faculty of Medicine is the medicine
and medical service that |
|
|
attaches great importance to ghumanityh. We train students to be professional |
|
|
doctors and co-medical staff with humanity, global
view and mind for community |
|
|
medical service. |
